Polymer Stabilised Cholesteric Textured (PSCT) liquid crystal optical-shutter (light-scattering) operating in the normal-mode (optical-shutter in light-scattering state with no voltage applied).

Properties:

The FOS-PSCT optical-shutter technology offers ultra-fast switching speeds (< 0.5ms) together with ultra-high maximum transmittance when in light-state ( > 88% ). Contrast is moderate due to no polarisers being employed. Optical-shutter is light-scattering (c.f frosted-glass) when in dark state (normal transmittance typically 2%). Optical frequency modulation up to 750Hz possible. High voltage operation required (V > 100 volt typical). Custom sizes available from 5 x 5mm up to maximum 14 x 16 inches.
